Aeronautical completes an engineering contract with GD Copper's Zhongke Science & Technology Ltd. a wholly-owned subsidiary company of Golden Dragon Group, a joint venture United States and Chinese company. GDG is the world’s largest precise copper tube manufacturer. It‘s products are used by air-conditioning and refrigeration manufacturers around the world. The contract included the development and improvement of a new lithium battery cell and packs for the light electric vehicle market. The company’s intellectual property includes 10 patents for materials development including core battery components, insulating material, lithium battery production and battery powders used in the construction of anodes and cathodes for medium to large format lithium batteries. ZST produces it own core materials, including LiFePO4 cathode material, insulator and safety values. Aeronautical will continue developing it's own LEV battery management products, cells, testing and safety standards.

Cell safety testing charger peak detect

!
Peak current of 24.70amps. With no BMS the test was concluded at 22.4 volts ensuring not to over discharge the pack. No heat was noticed and the battery pack performed well reaching 10.95 Amp Hours or 269.37 Watt hours. Displayed very good cell balancing without a BMS. Charging using factory charger peak detect in 209min at 29.760 volts, works well.  See data printout doc’s. DmmLio4Peak is the plot of the battery pack charging, Most critical in Li packs to make sure that they do not overcharge/underdischarge causing explosion. DmmLipo4PeakFinish is the steady state of the charge cycle when the charger has completed it's charge, both work correctly in this pack.

Performance testing examples

!
n Goal is 2000 charges and discharges (cycles) with a loss of less than 22%. C1 charge and discharge. Notice very well balanced cells at 3.24v, High max Amps results in lower V min. Pack in very good condition.Test # 3 Total Amp Hours 75 in 1800 Cycles no loss of pack performance.

Simulation is part of our design process

!
Analog and digital simulation is often used in an effort to speed component decisions or simply assist with mathematical calculations. We are testing simulation models that we have generated off battery cells. This will aid the design of battery packs and greatly reduce testing and performance time of new products.

When safety is everything

!
After months of testing. Samples are often randomly checked to ensure that production is still meeting the original samples. In this case production adjustments were required to ensure cell integrity as slight expansion caused cells to fail. Controller over discharging was the cause of the problem, besides capacity no other dangerous side affects were observed however we do not recommend this cell manufacturer.
